FIRST AID/CPR/AED CERTIFICATION:
Whether you need this for work, or want it for your family and friends, it is an opportunity to save a life! The Red Cross has created this course to meet the current standards and protocols used nationwide to do just that, save a life! There is no guarantee of a successful save, but it gives everyone a chance to live another day.
FIRST AID -
When selected, this "First Aid" portion of course provides the characteristics of the medical, traumatic or environmental emergency and how to respond. It covers "Stop the Bleed" and other situations where minutes count to save the person. The Emergency Medical Services will take at least 5 to 20 minutes to respond, but you are present and can start to give care now!
CPR -
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is used when a person's heart has stopped pushing oxygen rich blood through the body's systems. A phone call to "911", requesting equipment like an AED, and providing the pumping action of CPR can move oxygen through the body despite the heart being "offline". Whether "Compression Only" or full CPR with breaths is used, this person ( a family member, friend or stranger) will have a chance to recover and live another day.
AED -
An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) provides a method to stop an irregular heart beat with the possibility of the body resetting with its own original cadence or heartbeat's rhythm. The current machines are easy enough to use if the prompts are followed as given.
Course Formats:
The classes are offered in two formats:
Blended classes are partially online and partially in the classroom. Lecture topics are covered online and skills are the focus of the classroom time.
Classroom classes are completely taught in-person. It is a longer time period in the classroom, but provides an opportunity to ask questions and ask the instructor to help you understand the concepts when confused. Some folks don't learn well on the computer. This would be the class for them.
SKILLS Session: If you took the online portion through the Red Cross site, we can do the skills. Submit contact form with the information and date the online part was completed.
